Doctor Hauzer (3DO) | The Japan-exclusive First Fully 3D Horror Game | Import Gaming FTW! #36

Japanese title: ドクターハウザー
Release date: 4/29/1994
Publisher: Panasonic
Developer: Riverhillsoft
Platform: 3DO

It’s not Halloween…but here’s a video on a horror game…and not just any horror game, but one of the first in the genre…and as far as “firsts” go, this was one of the first horror games, the first fully polygonal 3D action horror game, and I believe the first 3D game to feature cel-shaded graphics–Panasonic and Riverhillsoft’s Doctor Hauzer for the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer.

HUGE THANKS goes to the following two people in the making of this episode. First, to my boy, Andy Haden, the PC nerd behind the DOS-based gaming channel, Retro Island Gaming, since he helped me get footage for Alone in the Dark, and is just a beautiful man. Second, to Tiago Pereira dos Santa Silva, for his support on Patreon and requesting a video on this game, which if you’ll believe it, I actually planned on covering just days before his request!
