How to Play Higher Firmware Games on PS Vita with 0syscall6

0syscall6 is an awesome kernel plugin for the PS Vita and PSTV which allows you to play any games or applications which require a higher firmware on your lower firmware console. This will require a Vita system which has been modified with some variant of HENkaku as well as a small setup of 2 files on your system to activate the plugin. Once 0syscall6 has been set up, you can easily and effortlessly play your higher firmware games! From my testing this has worked just fine with cartridge based games, officially installed games, and backups through NoNpDrm. This tutorial’s example is my higher firmware cartridge based game playing on a 3.60 HENkaku Ensō modified PSTV.

For anyone who has previously installed reF00D, it is now accepted that 0syscall6 is the definite replacement for reF00D. It only requires one file to be installed, plus it has been known to work with outlier games and DLC which did not work on reF00D! It is advised that anyone who might have issues with reF00D replace it with 0syscall6. Anyone who is doing a new PS Vita setup should go straight for 0syscall6.

This tutorial also assumes you have a Vita console set up with HENkaku or h-encore and have the basic understanding of how to transfer files as well as modify your config.txt file to load plugins through the taiHEN engine.
