How to Easily Unlock & Reclaim PS3 HDD Storage!

With people revisiting the PS3 thanks to the ease of installing CFW or PS3HEN, one of the first upgrades many people perform is an internal storage upgrade. While upgrading from an old hard drive as small as 20 GB is great, it was also discovered that quite a bit of storage is reserved by the console and not accessible to us by normal means. A few years ago PSX-Place user einsteinx21 discovered a method of reclaiming this lost storage space and gaining back up to 8% of the total drive storage! This might not make a difference on super small hard drives, but reclaiming up to 8% storage on a 1 TB drive? Now we’re talking…

This tutorial assumes you already own a modified PS3, running either full CFW (Custom Firmware) or PS3HEN, and have the basic understanding of how to navigate it. This video goes through making this process easy thanks to the PS3 Unlock HDD Space application by 3141card, which reduces the 8% reserved storage space to 1% reserved, reclaiming gigabytes on gigabytes within seconds!
