The ASUS ROG Ally X has finally been released, so let’s do a deep dive focusing on performance, battery life, and my overall gaming experience of using this handheld PC over the past month. Long story short: this is a handheld whose battery life and performance enables you to play games on your own terms, and that cannot be said about many others on the market.

** Note that in my testing, I think my audio drivers were hosed. I had to force some AMD driver updates to get the eGPU working, and when uninstalling those drivers to revert back to stock, I think I also nuked the audio drivers, which is why they were so quiet in my testing. Other reviewers are not having the same volume issues as me, so that’s likely the culprit. **
