Installation Steps
1. Download and Extract
2. Initial Setup
- Open the CEMU executable from the extracted folder
- Click “Browse” to set your games directory
- Download and configure graphic packs when prompted
3. Controller Configuration
- Click “Configure Input”
- Create a profile (e.g., “P1”)
- Select “Wii U Gamepad” as the emulated controller
- Choose your controller API:
- Xbox controllers: Select “XInput”
- PlayStation 5/Switch Pro: Select “DirectInput”
- Other controllers: Try “SDL Controller”
- Click “Add” to automatically map buttons
- Customize button mapping if needed
- Save your controller profile
4. Graphics Settings
- Go to Options → General Settings → Graphics
- Set Graphics API to Vulkan (try OpenGL for older hardware)
- Verify your graphics card is selected as the graphics device
- Leave other settings at default:
- Upscale Filter: Bicubic
- Downscale Filter: Bilinear
- Keep Aspect Ratio: Enabled
5. Installing Updates and DLC
- Go to File → Install Game Title, Updates, or DLC
- Select the meta folder (don’t open it)
- Click “Select Folder”
- Confirm installation
Performance Tips
- Enable VSync only if you experience screen tearing
- Uncheck “Shader Compiler” notifications for a cleaner gaming experience
- Use game-specific graphic packs for enhanced performance and visuals
- Not all games will run perfectly – check compatibility before investing time in setup
Troubleshooting
- If games run poorly with Vulkan, try switching to OpenGL
- Controller not detected? Try a different API (XInput/DirectInput/SDL)
- For game-specific issues, check the graphic packs for available fixes
- Regularly update CEMU and graphic packs for best compatibility
