In the world of emulation on desktops, laptops, consoles, and single board computers, what exactly is MiSTer? MiSTer is an open source FPGA project which aims to totally recreate various retro computers, arcade boards, and game consoles through cores on the Terasic DE10-Nano FPGA board. This is something truly special because as opposed to relying on software emulation, such as what you would see on a Raspberry Pi with RetroPie, this aims to recreate the hardware itself on a new FPGA board to bring the best possible cycle-accurate experience to retro gaming while running on completely new hardware. I’ve been interested in MiSTer for a few years now and have had more than enough time to experience what the project has to offer, and what can I say? This thing is AWESOME, and in this video I’ll show you exactly why that is for retro game console cores.
