So I got something special in the mail…a promotional box set of PCE Works’ XSC Bundle, which is comprised of special reproductions of Xak III: The Eternal Recurrence, Startling Odyssey II: Maryuu Sensou, and Cycho Rider. So that means one thing…a multi-title unboxing and review video!

Just to give you guys a disclaimer regarding this set, apparently the English patches of fan translations of two of the games in this set were used without consent of their authors and has caused quite a bit of an uproar within the fan translating community, whose intent is to provide their work for free and separate from the original Japanese software. I’d suggest doing some research into it if you are interested in playing these games, and be aware that the patches are made available online without any mandatory payments.

Big thanks to the folks at PCE Works for the limited bundle, and while the means in which it has been distributed is disappointing, I feel it is still a high-quality set. If you’d like, check out their website at

Gameplay was captured using the Elgato Game Capture HD, and video/audio was edited using Sony Movie Studio Platinum Suite, Version 12. All music was taken from the games featured here, with the exception of the theme from Youkai Douchuuki (Namco, Arcade).

Other games featured in this video are Efera and Jilliora (Brain Grey, PC Engine) and Momotarou Katsugeki (Hudson, PC Engine). Brief clips from the movie Highlander and TV series Star Trek TNG were used as well.
